Fashionable Histories: Every Day I’m Bustlin’

This is hanging outside of my work office door, no lie.

My favorite piece of historical clothing, Gentle Reader, is the bustle. I adore the bustle.  I think I would look grand in a bustle.  The 1880s are, hands down, my favorite era for women’s clothing.  Of course, it was also one of the worst eras of fashion for women, with hobble skirts, long trains that trailed in the mud and muck of London streets, and long-line corsets that, while the myth of tight-lacing is just that, a myth, were still rather constrictive anyhow.

But egads, how beautiful.

It is no wonder This Novel Of Mine is set in 1885!

What is your favorite era for clothing, Friend?
