A little bit about myself, Gentle Reader: I am an academic, a professor of English, and a feminist, New Historicist critic of literature. This means that I am most concerned with how history and culture influence literature, particularly the history and culture of women. I have a Ph.D. in 19thc British literature, and am a Victorianist at heart and by trade. All of this to say that I love researching for my novel, and currently, I am researching the Moulin Rouge.
Of course, this also means that I need to brush up on my reading French, which is pretty dreadful. Thank goodness for Google translator!
