New Year’s Eve

Gentle Reader, I’ve never liked NYE, and I’m pretty sure I know why.  The expectation of it all, the fact that I no longer imbibe alcohol, the crowds, my anxiety, all of it leads to a very confusing and uncomfortable night.  The best NYEs I’ve had were quiet ones at home, with friends over, food on the stove, movies on the TV, games played.

This year, the husband and I are staying home, cooking steaks on NYE and white beans with ham on NYD.  I am planning on enjoying my two days, even taking some much needed time off from planning my spring seminar to just enjoy time with said husband and dogs.

What are your plans, Friend?

  1. I haven’t been to a bar on NYE in years. I do drink and don’t mind crowds overly much, but NYE parties are always overpriced and getting a cab at the end of the night is impossible. I’ve had some nice NYE experiences getting a big group together at a restaurant for dinner, but the past few years, it’s been all about house parties. Preferably ones I can walk to. This year I’m going to Axel and Sio’s NYE/Housewarming/Sio’s Bday party and I’m bringing a pecan cranberry coffee cake.

We have croissants, cream cheese and smoked salmon all ready for NYE breakfast and I plan to spend the first day of 2016 at reading, writing and relaxing.

    1. House parties are the best because you’re surrounded by friends. No awkward convos or hit-ons 😉 Your day sounds lovely. Wish I could be there with you, My Friend! xoxo

  2. Going out with my boyfriend’s family for dinner. We got a table at a restaurant. I hope it’s not over crowded.
