Gentle Reader, not only am I taking on this reading challenge, I’ve also pledged on my Goodreads account to read 75 books this year. I’m very proud of this number, as I think it’s attainable, but only if I include books I read for school.
And why shouldn’t I? Because no matter how many times I teach Pride and Prejudice, I reread it every time. Same with Beowulf, and every other text. I’ve taught Beowulf a dozen times, at least, and I reread it, each and every.
Why do I do this? Because I like to be on the same page as my students in their readings, but also, I teach so many materials so often that things get lost in the ether of my brain. I need refreshers. I know the basics of P&P, for example, but I can’t remember what I want to say about, say, material culture in the 19th century and Austen, or, nationalism and Austen. That, then, is where the reread comes in.
So currently, I am reading:
- At Home by Bill Bryson (school)
- Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen (school)
- An Inheritance of Ashes by Leah Bobet
- The Luckiest Girl Alive by Jessica Knoll
- How to Be a Victorian by Ruth Goodman (sort of school)
And I just finished:
- Household Gods: The British and Their Possessions by Deborah Cohen (school)

The Postmodern Bluestocking 
I enjoyed The Luckiest Girl Alive, but I still found it a bit ehhhh
I’ve just started it. I read the sample on the Kindle and then downloaded it from the library’s e-book page. What was ehhh?
I think parts of it were just a little cliche, but maybe I’m too jaded haha
Currently I’m reading Health at Every Size and Fat!SO?. I’m looking to do a reading challenge. I also need more fiction in my life. I’ve been reading mostly self-help books and non-fiction.
Ooh, I don’t know Fat!SO? I’ll have to check it out! I’m reading a lot more non-fiction (for me, anyways) these days, too!
It’s great so far. She is pretty funny and many of her facts are eye opening for me anyway.
