Now that a main obligation is behind me, Gentle Reader, my weeks open up to the normal day to day of work, grading, reading, and, hopefully, writing. I have an essay due by March 1st, and I’m hoping to have it done by that time (if not, it needs to wait a year for consideration!). But I don’t know what to do about creative writing. Do I get back to Marvel? Do I work on Becoming’s sequel? Or do I start a new project completely? And how to do so, 1 hour a day? 2 pages a day? I need to have a schedule to work with.
So I’ve created my week in my calendar for today’s Sunday Meeting. But I haven’t blocked out time to write. I find it best if I don’t work on a schedule like that (i.e. at 7 a.m. I will write). Instead, setting goals (i.e. 2 pages a day or 1 hour a day) gives me the freedom to write whenever I have free time.
What are your goals this week, Friends?
I’m trying to write for 30 minutes a day, creatively. It’s a big commitment with everything else I have going on, as I know it is for you, but it keeps the mechanism well-oiled and also becomes a nice break from my other work, if I can learn to shut my editor off and just enjoy writing! c:
That’s what I think I’m going to start doing! I’m glad you’re finding time for writing. I know how busy you are!
