Day 18, WP18: Fashioning while Fat

It’s no secret on this blog or anywhere else that I love fashion, Gentle Reader.  I just love clothes, the feel of them, the look of them, how they look when put together.  I played dress up with friends in college, putting outfits together for them based on what I thought they should wear.  It was super fun.  And they always looked fabulous.

It’s also no secret that I’m fat.  I’m a size 18, and I have fluctuated with my weight my entire life.  The smallest I’ve been in my adult life is a size 14.  I’m big-boned.  I can’t get much lower than that.  But I find that people are often surprised that someone who’s fat can love fashion the way I do.

Enter the bloggers: the Fatshion bloggers, and I adore them.  I love reading their posts, seeing their clothes, knowing that there are other people out there, smaller than me, bigger than me, the same size as me, who love fashion as much as I do.

Friends, too, love fashion, and we have fun convos about clothing, accessories, makeup.  Because with the exception of shoes (I am not a big shoe fan, really, especially not heels), I have a large collection of accessories (purses, bags, scarves, jewelry), makeup (Urban Decay, Too Faced, Smashbox), clothing (Dress Barn, Lane Bryant, Betsy Johnson).  I just wish–and here’s my true wish–that more clothing would be available size 14 and up.  More fashionable clothing because Gentle Reader, I would wear it.

We all would.
